new (to me) apartment

i'm making a move at the end of the month....going from a 1 bedroom/1 bath to a 2 bedroom/2bath and i couldn't be more excited for a bigger space and a chance to redecorate. the new apartment is prewar with lots of cute details like a built-in bookshelf and picture molding. right now i'm weighing in my mind how much i want to change things and how much of the deposit i'll want back. our current place is all gray- gray walls, gray couch, gray bedding. lately i've really been feeling white with crisp black details, but with gold, softer pinks, and antique finishes mixed in:

why is it so much more exciting to dream about decorating than to pack up all of your junk?
