Last week I went to a viewing of Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky. Set in Paris 1920, it focuses on Chanel during her rise and her affair with the well-known composer, Igor Stravinsky. The cinematography, music, and of course wardrobe were all amazing, yet it left me wanting to know more about Chanel, the woman.
So, I found The Allure of Chanel by Paul Morand, a memoir told in her voice, from notes by Paul Morand that he took while visiting her in St. Moritz at the end of World War II. I am only a few chapters in and can’t put it down. I’m fascinated by her life, friendships and most of all her strength and a bonus: It was just re-released in April with illustrations by Karl Lagerfeld.
