My idea of the perfect day in Venice:
Wake up to sunlight streaming through windows in a modern artist loft.
Walk to corner of Venice&Lincoln for a bag of fresh cut mangos, oranges, jicama and watermelon seasoned with chili and lime from the charming street vendor.
Breakfast on the beach; watch surfers.
Stroll along canals.
Marisco's on Lincoln for the most amazing Mexican-style shrimp cocktail.
A few hours on Abbot Kinney: debate over dress at Steven Alan outpost, admire Filson luggage at Stronghold, chat with shopkeeps at Surfing Cowboys, and swoon over Tortoise:
