lite brite

I fell in love with installation artist Dan Flavin's work the first time I saw it many years ago at the Dia Beacon. Since then I've thought of how amazing it would be to have a little neon light in my home.





Recently I stumbled upon Lite Brite Neon, a custom flourescent design firm based in Brooklyn. I'd love to someday own my very own pink neon heart or have a couple of simple tubes lighting up a corner. Or maybe even my name written out in a scripty-font like a modern day family crest. The possibilities are endless!

I think this would fit in my stocking...

This Lizzie Fortunato necklace has caught my eye this week.  It's one of the limited edition pieces (there are only 25) from the site, Of A Kind. The site focuses on celebrating young designers by offering a limited edition piece from a different designer each week.  There are also shared stories and inspirations from the designers helping the pieces feel more exclusive and special. Get Low & Classic

Maybe it's the onslaught of recently released Oscar hopefuls, but I'm totally in movie mode right now and came across the new trailer for Jane Eyre--which comes out in March. Starring Michael Fassbender (Inglorious Basterds) and Mia Wasikowska (Alice), it looks like a thrillingly awesome updated version of the classic story but, of course, Jane is decidedly plain in dark Victorian dresses and a severely unflattering hairstyle. While most sites tend to fast sell fashion and accessories, the husband-and-wife team of Bill Powers, Half Gallery owner and judge on Bravo's Work of Art, and designer Cynthia Rowley's site Exhibition A , which launches today, will sell open edition, limited release works by artists including Terence Koh, David LaChapelle, Richard Phillips, Nate Lowman, Rene Ricard, Josephine Meckseper, Mark Borthwick, and Hanna Liden. With all pieces selling for between $100 - $500, it's the perfect way for a budding collector to get in the game.

Each piece will be available only for two weeks and then never offered again.
