All about the Details - NYFW

So it's begun. New York Fashion Week. This year I thought I was happily watching from afar, but my mans Ian Reid snapped these totally, completely inspiring pics at Gretchen Jones and now I'm feeling that Fashion Week pull....Take a look: The nails are out of this world. As in, way up there on my "awesome nails" list--and I've seen a lot of nails.

While the clothes are a beautifully neutral combination of patterns and textures, I can't help but be drawn to the Southwestern-style, native-inspired jewelry, the turquoise stone-inspired nails (obvi!) and the wispy, twisted updo. Oh, and the super-cool labyrinth-like set (very Ursula K. Le Guin fantasy novel).

JM Dry Goods

Found via one of my most favorite brands and blogs, Chance, JM Dry Goods is a killer new store that opened this past November in Austin (it has a sister store in Marfa too). Full of finds from south of the border, the store features fun, colorful things like Oaxacan Embroidered Blouses and Tunics, Campfire Soaps, and handmade Doefabco Bison wallets. This is a must stop on my next trip home!

Gucci fluers

I grew up with a framed Gucci flora print scarf in my living room, similar to the one above. Which for those of you who don't know your Gucci history (ps. I didn't really until 10 mins ago): Flora, one of the most loved Gucci iconic prints, was born as a special commission for Princess Grace of Monaco in 1966 by renowned illustrator Vittorio Accornero. You've seen it on bags, shoes, dresses etc., you just didn't know it!
So as a born and raised Gucci floral lover I was instantly drawn to the pansy print that Gucci revealed last week in it's pre fall collection. It actually makes great wallpaper too!

Done Right!

The crimped hair look has tried to make a comeback before, but it's never really caught on (see Sammy Sweetheart or whatever-her-name-is from Jersey Shore as an example of what NOT to do). Thankfully, these pics from a spread in the new ASOS mag show how to pull it off the right way. Just go for a beachy-tousled style and only crimp a few sections, leaving the roots and ends all messy and free. Countdown to summer...amiright?!
